Information for Physicians and Other Health Care Providers 

A basic goal of the Harbor-UCLA Faculty Practice Plan is to serve as a locally based resource for community physicians seeking consultations and referrals for patients with complex medical problems. Our faculty sub-specialists are readily available to provide consultations and second opinions for privately insured and self-pay patients with conditions presenting complex diagnostic and treatment issues. Unless otherwise indicated, outpatient consultations are rendered in the Harbor-UCLA Professional Building. We are a key referral resource for managed care organizations serving the greater South Bay area, working within prior authorization/referral guidelines established by the patient’s health plan and medical group.

Our policy concerning referrals from community physicians is to evaluate the patient’s condition as requested, promptly reporting all evaluation findings back to the referring physician. Any need for further evaluation and/or treatment will be determined by the referring physician, in collaboration with the consulting physician(s) at the Faculty Practice Plan.
