This C.C.S. certified unit features a multi-disciplinary treatment team representing the full range of Critical Care and Pediatrics sub-specialties. Care is directed by faculty with board certification in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and the nurses are specially trained to care for critically ill infants and children. Typical conditions treated in this highly specialized unit include head injuries and other trauma, seizures, life-threatening infections, respiratory emergencies, and heart problems requiring hospital-based intervention. This unit is headed up by Richard Mink, M.D., Chief, Division of Pediatric Critical Care.

Both the Pediatric ICU and the Neonatal ICU maintain highly skilled Emergency Transport Teams, designed to provide immediate response linkages to community hospital Emergency Services and extend our programs’ life saving services to critically ill children throughout the region, irrespective of ability to pay for care.
