Cardiovascular Health:

Center for Study and Treatment of Pulmonary Hypertension:  Pulmonary Hypertension is a rare and debilitating disease characterized by progressive destruction and narrowing of the blood vessels of the lungs. Our Liu Center for the Study and Treatment of Pulmonary Hypertension, directed by Ronald Oudiz, M.D., is dedicated to providing the best and most current therapy available for patients with primary and secondary pulmonary hypertension. At Harbor-UCLA we have played a leading role in clinical trials focusing on Flolan, an intravenous medication which prolongs life in patients suffering from Primary Pulmonary Hypertension (PPH), while facilitating resumption of a fuller range of activities. Under terms of the recently implemented “Diet Drugs Settlement”, we are currently offering free Echocardiograms and Cardiologist consultations to former Fen-Phen users who used this drug for 61 or more days and meet the settlement criteria.  Click here for further details on the Center for Study and Treatment of Pulmonary Hypertension.

Electron Beam CT Heart Scan:  This is a non-invasive, low-cost screening procedure for definitively assessing your personal risk of heart disease.  This procedure was pioneered by Harbor-UCLA Cardiologists, and all test results are interpreted by one of our highly skilled Cardiologists.  This program is directed by Matthew Budoff, M.D., a leading authority in cardiac imaging.  The heart scan is recommended for anyone presenting two or more risk factors for heart disease.  If you are at risk, our Cardiologists can help you implement lifestyle changes and undertake other measures designed to reduce your personal risk factor profile.
